These sheets are then rolled up and taken to the commercial facility. TPO has gained industry acceptance with the natural reflective surface to reflect UV rays. Built-Up (BUR) Roofing

Built-up roofs (BUR) are named after their application method rather than the materials used to make them. These kinds of roofs have been used for decades, and will likely be found on any old building that you purchase. If you’ve ever stood upon a roof with a gravelly appearance, it’s a BUR. The materials in a BUR are applied in multiple layers, hence the name. The base layers will generally be tar or asphalt, and the top layer is usually gravel. Built-up roofs can only be applied to a roof with little-to-no slope. While a BUR doesn’t have as many benefits as a lot of the other roofing types, it’s a dependable roof that will often cost the least amount of money.

The Reasons Solar Panels for your Building are SMART!

Solar panels are nothing new for residential homes.

So, why are we seeing this green trend in the roofing industry? Solar Panels are just starting to become more and more frequent for commercial buildingsWhy adding Solar to your Commercial Roof makes Sense

  • ‘Free solar panels’ aren’t really free: typically this refers to solar leases or PPAs.
  • You’ll save more money overall by choosing a $0-down solar loan over a solar lease or PPA because you’ll be the one to receive any federal, state, or local incentives.
  • If you’re able to purchase your system outright, you’ll see highest return on investment overall.

Save Money:

For a long time, solar panels have been considered an expensive upgrade. This is because of a typically high upfront cost. However, between low electricity costs, tax credits, low maintenance, and less repairs, solar panels are an excellent investment. With solar panels, building owners must think of the long-term value.

Tax Credits:

Commercial buildings with solar panels are eligible for the Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC). The ITC can be claimed on federal corporate income taxes for 30% of the cost of a solar photovoltaic (PV) system that is placed in service during the tax year.

In December of 2020, Congress passed an extension of the ITC. This extension provides a 26% for systems commencing construction in 2020-2022.

Low Maintenance:

While you’ll have to worry about the upfront cost of solar panels, leave the thought of them behind after installation. Unless significant damage occurs, such as from a severe weather event, there won’t be any maintenance or repairs involved. Solar panels are also noiseless, meaning they won’t disrupt your customers or employees.

High Longevity:

Due to the design of solar panels, they have a high level of longevity. The solar cells within the panels are closed in protective glass and framed by non-corrosive material that can withstand mild rain, hail, wind, and snow.
